Launching StreetCode's "Level Up Initiative"
In an effort to create broader pathways for equity in the area of tech access in our community, we have launched our Level Up Campaign. Over the next couple months, the Level Up Initiative seeks to raise $2.5M to supply free computers, internet, resources, and culturally-relevant tech education opportunities to every community member for a year. Through the Level Up campaign, we intend to ensure that East Palo Alto, Menlo Park and North Fair Oaks/Redwood City community members all have the ability and excitement to learn and work virtually from home.
As of now, we have raised $425,000 of our $2.5M goal and are hoping to fill the remaining gap by the end of June to ensure all local community members have access to devices for the summer and the start of the 2020-21 school year.
We’d like to thank Peery Foundation, one of our earlier supporters, who donated $100,000 to this campaign. “StreetCode is doing the hard work for us - creating a win-win out of a lose-lose. The least we could do [as philanthropists] is listen intently, care deeply, and support with our money, connections and time.” said Avani Patel, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Peery Foundation. Other early supporters include Google.org, The Magic Beans, Franklin & Catherine Johnson Foundation, Concrete Rose, and Anonymous.
If you are interested in joining our movement and/or helping us to fill the gap by making a tax-deductible financial contribution or donating computers, hotspots or connecting us with other potential partners, please contact Joel Valencia, Director of Development at email@example.com.
